Conductivity

Conductivity measures the resistance of electricity to flow through current. Ultrapure water will not conduct electricity. As dissolved ions are added to the water the amount of current the solution will conduct increases.

Conductivity tests are used to control boiler blowdown and cooling water bleed. Conductivity is also used to measure steam condensate purity.

Conductivity may be removed from water by removing the dissolved ions with:

  • Reverse osmosis
  • Demineralization
  • Evaporation
